I have read from your blog a little here and there (I haven't had time to be consistent with ANY blog reading!), off and on for many years, and just want you to know it has been a joy to get to know you some! :) I wish it were in person so I could know you better. I can relate to SO MUCH of what you go say!!! Much of it with gratitude, some of it wishing I could not relate, but finding it refreshing to relate none the less. The struggle to not rush in and set people straight is one I also had to learn. :/ Lol :) I have been reminding myself for a few years now of something I learned from Dr. John L. Lund, I believe through the lecture "Love at Home..." I am not the Holy Ghost, and I should not attempt to do His job. ;) (Years ago I thought it was my job as a mother to point out all my kids' mistakes, so they could 'be aware' and correct them. Yikes! Poor kids! :o Somehow they survive! :D) I know it has been a few years since you wrote this, but hugs to you regardless! You are awesome! :) Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!!! And what I can't relate to, I WANT to relate to. I actually talked to your Elder about this recently. I told him that we have never been around other home school groups. We see many young children who school at home, but our youth rarely even MEET another home schooled teen. Elder Keppner's response was that I find some youth and START ONE (I LOVE his hard working enthusiasm! :D He even made it sound EASY). So, with only ONE home scholar remaining, and having only ONE year left before he takes off for a mission, and knowing only one other youth in our area who home schools (who I do NOT believe I want mine hanging out with)... What do you suggest? What WORKS for a 17 year old boy who has never been a part of a home school group? I realize that answering this could be a quick response, or take a ton of time. If it doesn't take too much of your time, I would LOVE your opinion on the matter! :) Corine Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05353150427363546277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19699725.post-26133419934222253612015-08-07T08:51:03.162-07:002015-08-07T08:51:03.162-07:00I am doing more Charlotte Mason this year too. The one I have right now is a nice large one illustrated by Mary Englebreit.

When I plan, I try to plan out a general focus for that year during a couple weeks before school starts, and then I revisit things each week or day, depending.

I have usually planned on a two semester basis, but this year I am using more Charlotte Mason in our homeschool, so I am planning for three terms this year. What really helped me with all of that was the Simply Charlotte Mason website. I am still struggling through that planning process, because it is more structured than I've ever done school time before, but I am EXCITED! :-)

Here are the direct links that helped me most:

https://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/?utm_source=eletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=body

https://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/sample-schedules/buildweek/

On the first link, there's a PDF document you can download for free that is really helping me in my planning. I'm doing it this week, so I am neck-deep in all of that.

I will plug all of that bigger plan into my calendar. I just choose the subjects that I will teach each day, and then add that to my trusty planner, and check them off as we go over them. And "TA-DA!", I've got records of what we did. :-)

Here's another post on this blog that explains how I have planned things on a 4 year rotation of subjects: http://thoughtsfromthehearth.blogspot.com/2013/03/homeschool-sharing-whats-mine.html

I hope this helps you!!! :-)

Hugs,
RachelRachel Keppnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17193834789450018423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19699725.post-81415181387665478642015-08-05T08:50:52.554-07:002015-08-05T08:50:52.554-07:00Can you explain the planner system you use for pla...Can you explain the planner system you use for planning homeschool?
